Having trouble calibrating a probe that has been sitting idle for several months?
Place the probe in hot water (about 50 degrees C, or as hot as you had wash our hands with) for 5-10 minutes. Then place the probe in a saturated KCl (potassium chloride)solution and allow it to cool to room temperature. This procedure should dissolve any KCl crystallization or blackage that may have formed at the end of the reference junction inside the probe body.
My new Sentron rechargeable pH meter will not turn on and I just took it out of the box.
Plug the meter in to AC power for at least 15-30 minutes to allow the battery to charge. Turn unit ON by pressing the power button. If this doesn't solve the problem, press and hold the power button for 45 seconds. When you lift your finger from the power button, the meter will pause for 5 seconds and then reset. This is similar to rebooting your PC.
The battery is completed discharged.
When the battery has been completely discharged and then charged again, sometimes the meter will not start up: push the Power (On/Off) button for 30-40 seconds and then release it. The meter will start up automatically after 2-3 seconds. After this reset, the display can look unclear and you have to adjust the contrast. This can be done by going to 'Config'. The bottom-left item is 'LCD', press 'Enter', the status-line will say: Contrast O. Press the 'Up' or 'Down' button to adjust the contrast as desired, then press 'Enter'. Press 'Back' to return to the main menu. Please note that performing a reset will NOT delete measurements from the memory and will also NOT delete values filed in the 'Own Defined Buffers' section.
