
The Almond (Prunus dulcis) belongs to the rosaceae and has a high protein fraction of 22%. Almonds are used throughout the food industry and is used as an ingredient in many sweet and savoury products such as breakfast cereals, cakes, cookies, marzipan, nougat and pastries.
The protein fraction present in the Almond can trigger an allergic reaction in some people causing symptoms from skin irritations through to potentially fatal anaphylaxis. Susceptible people within the community must follow a very strict exclusion diet, and take care when reading allergen declarations on food labels. It is therefore imperative that food manufacturers provide consumers with accurate and reliable information on all product labels / allergen declarations.

AgraStrip® LFD's represent a fast and simple qualitative strip test method in which specific antibodies labelled with colloidal gold are used for visual colour development at a test and control zone.
The test kit comes complete with strips, antibody coated incubation vials, extraction tubes, an extraction buffer, surface swabs and additional accessories.
