Both the Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) and Pistachio (Pistacia vera) trees belong to the Anacardiaceae family.

Cashew and Pistachios are both very important food allergens causing symptoms from skin irritation through to anaphylaxis to susceptible people within the community. People who are allergenic to these tree nuts must follow an exlusion diet, and therefore must rely on the accuracy of food allergen statements on products.

The AgraStrip® Cashew / Pistachio kit is an immunological rapid test in a lateral flow format which offers food manufacturers and laboratories a reliable means to detect Cashew and Pistachio residue in foods, rinse waters and environmental swabs.
